Texas State Championships in San Antonio, Texas endorses GurlFytrz, a non-profit organization that helps women in distress and those facing domestic violence.
The 30th Annual Texas State Championships, hosted by Grandmaster Larry Lockhart, Sr., a Martial Arts Champion and Legend, has teamed up with Marcia Mason as GurlFytrz’ Texas State Director. Empowering women with awareness, workable solutions and self-confidence, GurlFytrz is launching a nationwide campaign to promote women’s safety, self-defense and self-confidence through education via Martial Arts and Personal Development.
Texas State Championships tournament held on March 13, 2010, has been hosted for over 30 years and is known to be the place where “Champions come”. It is renowned for its fairness and imbued tenets in the Martial Arts such as courtesy, respect, self-control, integrity and indomitable spirit. Competitors come from all over the Great State of Texas and Mexico to test their skills and secure one of the beautiful awards offered. This nationally known tournament is recognized for upholding the Martial Arts principles such as respecting and assisting all competitors and spectators providing a true, positive Martial Arts experience for seasoned Martial Artists as well as newcomers. This prestigious event is also known for the spirit of giving and supporting its community.
In the spirit of giving, the Texas State Championships will benefit GurlFytrz Non-Profit Organization and its efforts in spreading the word about women’s and children’s safety as well as the building of GurlFytrz Safe Ranches, not just in Utah and Texas but, all across the United States.
Having spent the majority of his career as a children’s advocate, promoting safety and education, Dr. Lockhart believes that we can make a difference in our community one individual at a time. In 1998, Dr. Lockhart was awarded the Man of the Year Award, which stated, ” . . . For devoted and unselfish dedication to the Martial Arts. For your discipline and leadership as a positive role model. Your constant display of proficiency, discipline, respect, and honor shines among the best. Your contribution to society has been of the utmost highest. We salute you!”
